STUDY , WORK, AND OBTAIN PERMANENT RESIDENCY IN CANADA

First Stage- Study in Canada

- Benefits: study in Canada provides access to high-quality education, renowned institutions, diverse cultural experiences, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

- Study Programs: Canada offers a wide range of study programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels.

- Eligibility: International students coming to Canada for study periods over six months must obtain both a study permit and a temporary resident visa (TRV). No study permit is needed for short-term courses or programs lasting six months or less.

- Requirements for the study permit: Include proof of acceptance into a designated learning institution, financial resources to cover tuition fees and living expenses, clean criminal record, and others.

Second Stage- Work While Studying and After Graduation

During their studies in Canada, international students have opportunities to work on and off-campus and participate in Co-op Work Permit Programs:

- Work Opportunities: With a valid study permit, students can work up to 20 hours per week off-campus and unlimited hours on-campus during regular academic sessions.

- Co-op Programs: Many Canadian institutions offer co-operative education (co-op) and internship programs, enabling students to gain hands-on work experience relevant to their field of study.

- Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): Upon completing their studies, students may qualify for a PGWP, allowing them to work in Canada for up to three years, aiding in gaining Canadian work experience for future immigration applications.

Third Stage- Permanent Residency in Canada

International students interested in obtaining permanent residency in Canada have several pathways available after completing their studies:

- Express Entry: This points-based system evaluates candidates based on factors like education, work experience and language proficiency. Students with Canadian credentials and post-graduate work experience in Canada may gain additional points, increasing their chances of success.

- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Each Canadian province and territory has its own immigration programs. Some PNPs offer specific pathways for international graduates to apply for provincial nomination and eventually for permanent residency.

- Steps for graduated international students:

  1. Apply for a post-graduation work permit.
  2. Gain one year of Canadian work experience at the specified level.
  3. Apply for Permanent Residency.
